We also plan on having information on the great lake ports. This is a major project. at this time the Lake Michigan portion is about 90% done. We welcome your feedback and photos on any port you live on or have knowledge of. Also we welcome sponsors for the entire site or any portion of it. The Great Lakes basin covers 295,000 square miles of land and water, including nearly 6,700 miles of American shoreline. Twenty-five million American citizens rely on the lakes for their recreation and their livelihoods. Economically, it is one of the most important areas in North America.--and their connecting channels form the largest fresh surface water system on earth. These Sweet Seas hold about one-fifth of the world's fresh surface water supply and nine-tenths of the U.S. supply.
